Clare - I knew you were just having a little fun with my post. I actually expected the subject of bovine testicles to provoke many a comment. Are you talking about the metroplex as in Dallas-Ft Worth? If so yeah I know it fairly well though I only visit a couple of times a year.

Travis- If you do come to NYC, we should all meet for lunch or dinner. We could also take you to some of the tourist attractions. It's a sad fact that most NYers never see those landmarks unless they're showing them to a visiting friend.

Nan- My car's been streaming flowerfetti for a couple weeks now, but I confess I hadn't thought of my wake as a glorious procession. Seems like something new is propagating every few days and there's a new roof coating of blossoms or pollen pods or helicopters. The weirdest ones looked like small broccoli trees.

Does everyone remember the Japanese tune "Sakura?" Am I dating myself?

We have a gorgeous cherry blossoming tree that drops its beautiful petals onto our driveway. If I leave the car there, it becomes covered with petals and as I drive down the street the petals catch air and fly, leaving a trail of pink confetti. I feel like a bride again, but this time the flower girl is me - doing a bang up job, I might add!

Back in the '80s when I lived in Minnesota for a while, I had an argument with a guy who insisted that all of New York State was like the Bronx. This was during the time the Bronx was literally being burned down. My reaction then and now: (1) Not all of the Bronx is like the stereotype of the Bronx, (2) Upstate New York is about as rural and opposite of New York City as possible, and (3) New York City has some of the most scenic spots in the country. Anyone who doubts me should visit the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

The video is fantastic! Being a Bronx Botanical Garden kind of girl, I had no idea Brooklyn has all those cherry trees. I thought I'd have to go to D.C. if I wanted to see cherry blossoms in bloom. and I've lived in NY all my life!! Still learning!
