Did you know that this New Year's Eve is concurrent with the fabled Blue Moon? So, what have you told yourself could only happen in a blue moon?
- you'd finish your WIP?
- you'd get an agent or a book contract?
- you'd see your first, or another long-awaited, title finally in print?
- you'd build on previous successes to make exciting new progress?
- you'd return to a labor of love you left behind?
- you'd experience the fulfillment of other, wonderful desires known only to your secret heart?
Well, on this New Year's Eve, you can make every one of your impossible wishes on that big, gorgeous Blue Moon, because their time has come!

Clare, you're absolutely right. No more excuses.
Happy New Year.
Happy New Year and Blue Moon, everyone!
Happy New Year to everyone at WOM!
And the next New Year's Eve Blue Moon won't happen until 2028. I hope everyone managed a good look at the one last night.
Happy New Year all.
Yes, I knew about the blue moon (read about it ten minutes ago).
What I wish will come true in 2010: I will have some of my crime fiction published. Not necessarily a novel, just some of my flash fiction pieces. I have sent six off recently and only got one back in my face yet so perhaps ....
Happy New Year and Happy Blue Moon to you all.
Thanks for a beautiful post, Clare.
Happy New Year to my blogmates at Women of Mystery, and to all of our treasured readers and commenters who make blogging so worthwhile.
Best wishes, Dorte, on your flash fiction pieces. I am a big fan of your writing -- I look forward to reading more of your work.
May 2010 bring everyone good health, happiness, much laughter, lots of good reading, and tons of creative time for writing!
Leah- I'll be your partner in cleaning out that musty old excuse cupboard!
Elaine and David and Terry- Ditto ad gloria!
Dorte- Sounds like you're well on your way to making sure your wishes come true. As Thomas Jefferson said, in paraphrase, "The harder I work, the more luck I seem to have."
Kathy- With such a great circle of like-minded well-wishers, how can the Universe refuse us?
Once in a blue moon I like to really thoroughly clean my house. Does that mean it's only every 2.5 years or so that I manage it? Gee, that sounds about right. How sad is that?
Most interestingly, in 2007, the year of the last blue moon, I got my agent. (I just checked the blog--I mailed the pages off in August, got my agent in September. The blue moon was at the end of May. Still, one never knows!) Maybe this year, she'll sell a manuscript for me.
There are many things I'd like to do this year. Here's hoping the blue moon helps me achieve them!
Happy blue moon New Year to all the Women of Mystery.
I completely forgot about the blue moon. Darn.
Happy New Year everyone!
We were in Tucson, AZ and the blue moon was beautiful, surrounded by stars that you could actually see!
