Two Sentence Tuesday: Post-NaNo Edition

Well, here we are on December 1. Did you accomplish any writing goals last month, even if it wasn't NaNo? Me, I wrote 20,000 words in November, which is pretty good for me, even if it's not the 50,000 NaNo aims for.

Today's two sentences come from John Connolly's The Gates, a YA novel that's decidedly outside his usual style but tons of fun nonetheless.

Samuel held his breath and listened. He had the uncomfortable sense that a very squishy creature was also holding its breath, if it had any to hold Even if it didn't it was definitely listening.

And a few from my NaNo project, which now has to go away so I can get back to my WIP.

Jake could feel Tara’s frustration like a physical presence among them. He would get an earful about this later, he was certain. Thank God--or the Powers--they’d have tomorrow off duties as well so they could try to talk through today’s discoveries. And maybe he could convince her to leave. Tara’s friend was dead, her reasons for joining the Chosen had dissolved.

What about you? Read anything? Write anything? Let us know where to find it, and we'll update this post as the day goes on.

" Thank God--or the Powers--they’d have tomorrow off duties..." is nicely done.

I have a couple lines on my blog. And thanks for letting me join in the 2 sentence fun this week.

Laura, I now need to know why.

Meanwhile, I have a bit up at my place. I cheated and added a few extra lines for context.

Deleted comment was me. I stopped by and saw my comment had gone missing so I left a new one. As I did, the original appeared out of the cybermists.

Yeah, Blogger has been glitchy. It consistently miscounts comments these days, telling me we have one fewer comment on each post than we do, stuff like that. And it's reacting VERY badly with my new version of Firefox. The regular pages display fine, but trying to create a post or comment results in ENORMOUS type--like 36 point or something--so the comment box doesn't even fit on the page.

Okay, so I didn't do as many words as I'd planned in November, but I've waded armpits-deep into a new first draft with a deadline so ambitious that I don't dare say it aloud. That's making December sort of a personal NaNo, a MyNoWriMo if you will.

The last 2 sentences from today's blatherfinger:

The offer was genuine and friendly.
"Are you my captor or my host?"

Great stuff, and congrats on the word count, Laura!
