NaNoFiMo

Did you try your hand at NaNoWriMo last month but not make it to 50,000 words? Perhaps you reached 50,000 words but your novel wasn't anywhere near finished. Somewhere I read a comment from a women who wrote 50,000 words but was still only in chapter 3. Sheesh!

If you have a WIP that's still in the first-draft stage and you'd like some company in finishing it up, NaNoFiMo might be for you. That's right--National Novel Finishing Month. The only requirement is that your WIP be just partially written. According to Pookel, NaNoFiMo founder, if you have a completed draft that just needs editing, NaNoEdMo (National Novel Editing Month) would be more appropriate.

On the downside, National Novel Finishing Month is December. On the upside, December's not even one-third over yet. So if you'd like to participate, hop on over to the NaNoFiMo website and sign up.

Good luck!

Thanks for letting us know about NaNoFiMo. It just might give some writers the extra push and incentive they need to keep going.

I have so much respect for writers who completed the NaNoMO and are going to try to do NaNoFiMo, too! I don't have the kind of life that allows me to participate myself, but I admire those who do.

NaNoFiMo is kind of what I'm doing, except from scratch again, and it's news to me- Thanks, Elaine!

Well, I'm not going to sign up officially, but I am definitely trying my own NaNoFiMo this month. I'm calling it MyNoWriMo. And I should be working on it, not playing on the web, but there you go.

I love it, Laura! That's how I thought of what I did in November. I didn't write any words, but I came out of the month with a complete, detailed outline.

9hope my comment doesn't show up twice...I don't see it.) I'm calling last year's winning 50,000-word still unfinished novel NoNaNoNoHow.

Clare- I think we're got a new writing movement here!

Lois- It sounds like you should be heading for NaNoEdMo to turn your NoNaNoNoHow into a NaNoYesYes. :)

I must be in the right place! This is my first NaNo that I haven't written "The End" during November but still wanted to keep going. And I'm a woman, and it's a murder mystery! I just decided that I needed to find NaNoFiMo to convince myself to finish it. I have a list of scenes that will take me to the bad guys being handcuffed and laying on the ground. I've been writing about 500 words every other day or so - at that rate I'll never finish! Anyway, I'm joining your club!
