Too Old To Write?

Feeling your age? Wondering if you'll ever get published?

A writing friend of mine, Triss Stein, recently attended a talk by Harry Bernstein. The topic: getting published. Harry spoke of his unagented manuscript that finally got read by an editor at Random House, who sent it to an editor for the UK branch. That editor loved it. Random House published it last year.

Harry's book, THE INVISIBLE WALL, hit BEST SELLER status. William Grimes named it as one of his ten favorite books of 2007. Harry's writing career was officially launched at age 96.

His second memoir, THE DREAM, followed shortly. His third book is in progress. He's now 98 years old. Making the rounds, taking his time, finishing his third book, having a rousing good time.

Enough said?

I great post and a heartening reminded to keep trying, but where is Two Line Tuesday?

Nan, this sure gives me hope!

Travis, we are running a bit late today but Elaine put up Two Sentence Tuesday a while ago.

A friend of mine either edited or evaluated (I can't remember which) this manuscript for the agent who eventually handled it. She loved it--absolutely raved about it for months on end. Plus, yes, the author's age gave us both a bit of hope. :-)

I sent the story about this guy when I first heard it to my 80 year-old friend who's still polishing her first novel. Whippersnapper, I say!

Wild...I blogged about Harry last year (I've Got a Book In Me Too ) after seeing a blurb about him, but I never read the book. Now I must.

Just what I needed to hear (read)!
Go for it, Harry! You DID go, you saw, you conquered!
Thanks so much for this news!
