Our steadfast friend and source of great information, Marijke, is an R.N. specializing in palliative care. She has two websites: Help My Hurt which deals with pain management and Marijke: Nurse Turned Writer which covers every aspect of general medical news, including the occasional controversy.
Marijke has been tagged with a meme and has selected Women of Mystery as one of her “pay it forward” blogs. We thank her for the honor. The point of the meme is that I am supposed to share seven random and/or weird things about myself. Since I am sure you have all noticed my little weirdnesses here and there, I’ll just focus on random facts:
1. All of my grandchildren have inherited my ex-husband’s dimples.
2. I still hang out with my friends from high school.
3. I do my own taxes. (This year I made an error that took a week to find and fix.)
4. I am left handed.
5. I will collect my first Social Security check this year.
6. I drive a ’92 Buick Regal.
7. I am addicted to the medical news links at the end of each of Marijke’s post on her Marijke: Nurse Turned Writer site.
Since I hate putting heavy pressure on anyone, I’m not going to choose seven blog buddies to link to the meme. Instead, it’s yours for the taking. If you are not so inclined, but want to drop a fact about yourself in the comments, that’d suit me just fine.

I'm tired and grumpy and my feet hurt, so I'll play along from my hotel room!
1. I am a medical oddity. At four, I became the fifth child in recorded medical history to be allergic to the chicken pox virus. I react to drugs in ways no one else does, don't feel pain until it's crippling, and tend to be asymptomatic when sick.
2. I learned how to pop the lock on my brother's door using the cover of a paperback book when I was about 7. (This was fair because I didn't *have* a lock on my door.)
3. I've owned almost every processor Apple has ever produced, starting with a 512K right up to my current Intel Core Duo.
4. I did all the classwork and most of the research for my PhD, but never finished my dissertation.
5. I like ALL dogs better than most people and MOST dogs better than all people.
6. I am a complete carb addict.
7. Computers love me, but fax machines hate me and I usually make my husband send faxes for me.
LOL at Laura's number 7.
I hope you didn't mind me tagging you. I don't usually do that sort of thing but it was a moment of weakness on my part {grin}.
dfTerrie - Love the weird facts. And good for you for keeping up with your high school friends. That's a wonderful anchor point.
Dunno if I'll play or not on my blog, but sharing weird stuff is fun.
dfTerrie - very cool list. I still like the fact that you and I share a name and we're both left-handed. {and divorced, although I have been living (remember when they called it "in-sin"?) with the Cowboy for 14 years.}
One weird random thing about the Bag Lady? She vacuums her bathtub. She has a big, 2-person tub that doesn't get used all that often, and a cat that loves to play (and shed) in it...
And Laura? Totally with you on Number 5!!!
Hi Laura,
Grumpy or not, that's a great list! Hurry home!
Marijke, we didn't mind in the least.
dfLeah, you are very right about high school friends being great anchors. You can't fool someone who's known you since childhood, so you never try and that demeanor prevents you from trying to fool anyone else.
dfBag Lady--you and the Cowboy have to start using that two person tub more often.

Great list by both you and Laura. I learned a few things about the both of you.
Travis,
Glad you liked our lists and there is more to learn, after all, we are . . .TA DA . . . the Women of Mystery. :)
Terrie
Love the lists!
Alas, I haven't seen anyone from high school since, well, pretty much high school. Good for you for keeping up with your old pals.
I'm slowly emerging again after an overload of work, and even though I have a million chores to catch up on, I'll first spend a few minutes throwing together my own list of seven unusual things about me. Here goes:
1. My family consisted of two brothers married to two sisters, who shared a house, a business, and one child (me).
2. I didn't learn English till I was just about ready to start kindergarten, despite the fact that I was born on Long Island and my father and uncle didn't speak anything but English. Think about it. (My mother and aunt were from Germany.)
3. I have always had unnaturally acute hearing.
4. I, too, prefer dogs (and most other animals) to people. They tend to like me, too, and I often find my lap occupied by a four-legged pal when visiting an old or new friend.
5. Of all the pets my husband and I have had over the years, only one wasn't abused by former owners.
6. When I was a kid, I once had 12 cavities diagnosed at one dental checkup. And yes, I went to the dentist on a regular basis, twice a year.
7. Both my kids survived serious medical conditions. My older son had a heart problem that was corrected by surgery right after he turned 16. When my younger son was 3 months old, he was child #16 in North Carolina to have meningitis during an epidemic in the fall of 1987 and the only one who survived. Both are fine today.
Hi Crabby,
Glad you are back on the blogs.
Hi Elaine,
That is some interesting list. How wonderful that your sons are healthy today.
Do you still speak German?
Terrie
