The anthology launch was a wild success. Partners & Crime, which is a terrific - and hopefully thriving - independent mystery bookstore in Greenwich Village (44 Greenwich Avenue at the corner of Charles) was full to bursting with friends and well-wishers. The anthologies sold out, and it was heartwarming to see so many terrific writers take pen in hand and sign their names. I think we all had the feeling that this was the first of many such signings.
My negligence lately, in regard to blog posts and comments, is due in large part to a several-week string of techno-disasters, including (but certainly not limited to) a hard-drive crash on a two-month old computer. Makes me wonder what the universe is trying to tell me about my technology day job....
Again, congratulations to all the anthology authors, especially to Nan and Terrie! I'll be away for a bit and plan to report back after Crime Bake.

So glad to hear everything went well, although not surprised! Congratulations to all the writers!
Hey, bag lady...I lived in Alberta for three years in the 70's! Your bag sounds intriguing....
Lois
How wonderful for everyone. Glad it was a success.
Congratulations.
Do we dare ask where in Alberta you lived?
We lived in Edmonton, in married student housing. First day we pulled in we wondered what the electrical outlets in our parking space were for! After she got frostbite, we learned to carry the baby with her face covered by a blanket. We also learned we had to get out and x-country ski or snow-shoe, no matter how cold, to avoid depression. But that sweep of light come April...I'll never forget the dramatic change.
Wow! Sold Out! that is great.
It was a very nice event. Sadly, an earlier accident in the Bronx made me miss the reading, which I was assured later was great fun. Each writer chose and read only one page, so the whole roster took about half an hour and must have whet the appetites for more. I got my very own copy scribbled in by every author still present, including our own fabu Nan and Terrie who brought their own fan clubs, smart girls. I can't wait to read them all!
Hi, Lois - so you'll have some understanding when the Bag Lady starts bitchin' about the weather (any day now...) Unfortunately, the Bag Lady is far too unco-ordinated for outdoor winter sports, so spends her winters in a fog of depression, bitter and whiny until spring arrives and the sun returns. (ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration)
Where she lives (5 hours north of Edmonton)in the summer, the sun shines for almost 20 hours at the time of the solstice - makes it all worthwhile!
The Bag Lady hopes that making the bags this winter will help keep her sane...glad you think they are intriguing. She'll be posting more photos on her blog soon.
Lois -
I am so jealous you are going to Crimebake! I had such a good time when I went, but with one thing and another this year I won't be able to go. (I was planning on it right up until a month ago when it became clear I wasn't going to be "well" any time soon!)
You'll have to post a report.
